Virus halts development.

As some of you may have already heard, a recent outbreak of an unknown virus (suspected to be a variation of the Ebola virus) in the UK has caused nation-wide disruption and chaos. Whilst details are scarce there are reports coming through of wide-spread infection with an extremely high fatality rate with, as of yet, no known cure or vaccine.

As such, the developers based in the UK (myself included) are heading north in an attempt to avoid this pandemic. Electricity and most essential supplies are being phased out as the infection spreads so we'll be unable to remain in contact or do anything productive for possibly some time. For this reason, we're stopping the development of Jurassic Rage indefinately; at least until our core developers can get back on track again, but that could take anything from 4 weeks to 6 months.

We recommend anyone else in the UK reading this checks out their local BBC News website for further information and on details as to how to best prepare themselves.

Thank you for all your support these last few years, we wish all of you the best of luck in your future endeavours.

Back Up

As you no doubt can see Switch got the website back up and running properly. Apparently there was an issue with the server switching the version of PHP. It's fixed now so the site doesn't look stupid anymore. hehe

Changes

Well, as many of you will already notice the link to the forums now leads to a different forum. This is due to our changing web hosts. We are now sponsored by Branzone. They offered us a much better hosting package, more then doubling our current bandwidth limit; not to mention giving us almost 1GB more storage space!!!

This triggered a few changes that are currently underway with our site; which is long due for an overhaul. First of which was getting a new forum. We have switched to SMF. This will require you all to reset your passwords. I'm REALLY sorry for the inconvenience, but it had to be done.

* To get logged in, simply click on the LOGIN button at the top, then click on FORGOT PASSWORD. Your new password will be sent to you and you can then log in and change it to whatever you want. *

We will also be changing the news section of this site. It will eventually draw from the Intel section of the forums. This will keep everything tied in with the forums and help reduce spam on the main site. The Dev Journals will more then likely be set up on the same, or similar system. This has not been done yet as we are being split between working on that and redesigning the forum theme so it matches the old style.

We'll keep everyone up to date on the progress as it happens.

Jurassic Rage hits newstands!

That's right, for those of you lucky enough to live in the UK you can swing on down to your local newstand and pick up this months copy of PCGamer. Why would you do this you ask? Well because JR Evo II is featured on the CD!

Check it out if you don't already have a subscription to the magazine (even if you've already downloaded JR off of ModDB).

In other news we are working really hard on Evo III and hope to have it ready soon.

Update

First off, I'd like to apologies for the site being down, hopefully that won't happen again.

Second off, I'm sad to have to announce that Evolution III will be delayed for a while. Due to some personal and technical reasons we will not be able to get the release out on time. However, the things we have in store for that release will be well worth the wait!

And lastly, eSportsTV has just posted an interview with Switch`. He hints at some things in evolution III so be sure to check it out!

Here is the direct link to the interview page, otherwise just click on their feature scroller image and it will take you to the page.

Jurassic Rage: Evolution II released !

It has been a day since the velociraptors broke out of their high-security pens from Medical Lab 2A. Security forces have been unable to control them, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of scientists and security guards. The scientists are becoming overly strained because of this situation. They have been becoming overbearing over how the security guards have been handling the situation.

With the increasingly pungent attitude of the scientists to the security guards, the guards suspect that the scientists are hiding something. There is something about these velociraptors that escaped that is greatly important. What ever it is, it is important enough to call for a Level 4 security breach.

The mental symptom among a majority of the island's velociraptor is increasing. The rate is comparable to a disease of some sort. The scientists seem to be overly concerned over this epidemic. They claim ignorance over the origin of this mental sickness, but the guards suspect otherwise.

To Be Continued...

New features in Evolution II:
 - Realistic weapons added: MK23 offensive handgun, SPAS-12 semi-auto shotgun and MP5SD suppressed submachine gun.
 - Weapon recoil system, based on weapon motion data.
 - Weapon accuracy is affected by recoil, player movement, stance and health.
 - Flexible reloading system, press fire or the use key to reload, hold the fire key to cancel reloading.
 - Procedural firing animations, every shot fired recoils a bit differently every time.
 - Bullets can ricochet off some surfaces.
 - The updated Extermination gametype uses only realistic weapons, the old one with UT2004 weapons is now called Arcade.
 - Dynamic Extermination timelimit: the number specifies number of seconds for each dino on map instead of absolute number of minutes.
 - Various bug fixes and tweaks.
